ADRA WORKER DIES IN SUDAN
98/28/06

Silver Spring, MD/USA, (APD/ADRA) Adventist Development and
Relief Agency (ADRA) International personnel are mourning the
death of Listone Mabuto, ADRA Sudan internal handling, shipping
and transport manager.

"Listone had been battling malaria and other complications for
several months; he was hospitalised two days ago with a
breathing complication. Yesterday morning he died calmly and
without a struggle," reported ADRA Sudan director Peter Truscott on August
25..

Only 39 years old, Listone joined ADRA approximately two years
ago. He was the person responsible for the movement of 10,000
tons of relief food from Port Sudan, on the Red Sea, to the
ADRA warehouse in Khartoum State 1,400 kilometres inland, and
onward to the nearby refugee camps. The food fed approximately
70,000 refugees during 1997.

"The movement of this food was a really important function and
he managed it very well," says Randy Purviance, ADRA Central
Office senior grants administrator. "He will certainly be missed."

Listone leaves behind his wife Jean (a U.S. citizen), two
children and his parents. The family left for Zimbabwe,
Listone's homeland, where he will be buried.
