SAN ANSELMO, Calif.-Antoinette Clark Wire has been named the Robert S. 
Dollar Professor of New Testament by the San Francisco Theological Seminary 
(SFTS) board of trustees.  Wire, who holds the Ph.D. in Old Testament from 
Claremont Graduate School, joined the SFTS faculty in 1973.  She is a 
recipient of the Distinguished Alumni/ae Award from Claremont. 
 
PITTSBURGH -A 15-day study tour of historical, archaeological and Christian 
sites in Jordan and Syria will be offered April 9-23 through the Continuing 
Education Program and the Bible Lands Museum of Pittsburgh Theological 
Seminary.  The cost per person is $2,200.  Nancy Lapp, the museum's 
curator, will lead the study tour.  For more information, contact the

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-"The Money Problem: A Conference on the Financing of 
American Religion" is set for Oct. 15-16 at the Louisville Presbyterian 
Theological Seminary.  Worshop topics include "Theology and Money," "Plain 
Talk about Catholic Giving: Myths and Realities," and "How to Run a Capital 
Campaign in the Local Parish."  Keynote speakers include Robert Lynn Wood, 
Mark Chaves, Loren Mead and John Mulder. 
 
DECATUR, Ga.-The Lay Institute of Faith and Life at Columbia Theological 
Seminary is beginning its second session this month, with courses running 
on Monday evenings, Oct. 19-Nov. 9.  Offerings include "Neighbors of Other 
Faiths: New Challenge for the Church," taught by Carlos Cardoza-Orlandi, 
instructor in world Christianity; "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep ... Prayer in 
All of Life," taught by Julie Johnson, associate director of the 
Christianity Spirituality Program; and "Patrons, Priests and Prostitutes: 
Life in New Testament Times," taught by Stan Saunders, assistant professor 
in New Testament.  Classes meet from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and the cost of a 
course is $35.
