NEW YORK CITY - "An Auburn Affirmation: Reflections for a 75th Anniversary"
will be presented by Auburn Theological Seminary President Barbara Wheeler
at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Forbes Magazine Galleries, 62 Fifth Ave.
(across from First Presbyterian Church). The evening is coordinated by the
Session of the First Presbyterian Church and by Presbyterian Welcome, an
association of 13 New York City area churches who oppose the recent
constitutional change within the denomination that prevents the ordination
of gays and lesbians. The reading deals with Harry Emerson Fosdick's
struggle against fundamentalism earlier this century - which led to the
creation of Auburn Seminary - and the implications of that history for
current theological debates. Hor d'oeuvres will be served at 6 p.m. The
magazine's galleries will be open beginning at 5:30 p.m.; exhibits include
12 of the House of Faberge Easter eggs once owned by the last two czars of
Russia.

RICHMOND, Va.-Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of
Christian Education has exceeded its $31 million fund raising goal a year
ahead of schedule, according to a recent announcement by Louis B. Weeks,
the campaign president. Individuals, churches and foundations have
committed $32.7 million to the school's Enduring Commitment Campaign, which
began in May 1995. Money from the fund has been used to establish 10 merit
scholarships; to build the 300,000-volume William Smith Morton Library and
establish an endowment for its operation; and to develop academic centers -
such as the Asian-American Ministry and Mission Center - to respond to
changing needs within the church. Contributions are still being received.

PRINCETON, N.J.- The Rev. Victor Aloyo Jr. became director of vocations at
the Princeton Theological Seminary on Jan. 4. Aloyo will manage the
seminary's master's degree-level recruitment and admissions programs.
Aloyo, formerly pastor of the Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer in East
Brooklyn, N.Y., has also been program director for the Hispanic Leadership
Development and Enhancement Program of the seminary's Center of Continuing
Education. He is a member of the New York City Presbytery's Board of
Trustees and was the presbytery's moderator in 1977.

CHICAGO- Just after the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and
the Presbyterian Church (USA) approved in a "full communion" agreement, the
boards of McCormick Theological Seminary and the Lutheran School of
Theology at Chicago (LSTC) started discussing a plan to construct a
building on the LSTC campus to house McCormick's faculty and administrative
staff. The two Hyde Park seminaries, long-term partners, have appointed a
committee to study how the schools might benefit from the proposed
arrangement while preserving their institutional identities.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Rev. Johanna W.H. Bos will deliver the address at the
spring convocation at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary (LPTS).
The biblical role of "the stranger" is her topic. The service will begin
at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, in the seminary's Caldwell Chapel. Bos, a
teacher at LPTS since 1977, is professor of the Old Testament and the
senior member of the institution's faculty. Born in The Netherlands, she
is a graduate of Leiden University there, where she also received the Th.M.
and Dr.Th. degrees. After emigrating to the United States, she earned a
Ph.D. from Union Seminary in New York City.
