    Presbyterian Historians Conference Set

    by Jerry L. Van Marter

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Presbyterian Historical Society's 21st Annual Seminar
on Local Church History has been set for April 20-23, 1999 at Montreat
Conference Center in North Carolina.

Last year's seminar attracted 42 participants - the largest crowd ever.

The seminar is designed for congregational historians writing a church
history for publication, anniversary celebrations or archives. It is also
intended for Presbyterian Women historians in congregations, synods and
presbyteries.

Seminar workshops will focus on writing, researching and publishing. A
two-day workshop has been designed specifically for Presbyterian Women
historians.

Other workshops will address such topics as preservation of church
records and library books, disaster preparedness, oral history, exhibiting
church treasures, using new digital technologies and photograph
preservation.

The schedule will also allow time for more on-site research and
consultations with Presbyterian Historical Society staff.

Information on the seminar is available by contacting Diana
Ruby-Sanderson, Presbyterian Historical Society, P.O. Box 849, Montreat, NC
28757, or by phone at (828) 669-7061.
