"Millennium Praise," a service featuring hymns from early-day Methodism as
well as modern times, will be held at Lincoln Cathedral in England June 17,
2000.

The event is being sponsored by Koynonya, a voluntary organization in the
British Methodist Church that promotes inter-congregational links throughout
the world.

"We are aiming at 'a thousand tongues to sing our great Redeemer's praise,'"
says the Rev. Kingsley Halden, a Koynonya leader from Huttoft, Lincolnshire.
"O For A Thousand Tongues to Sing" is one of the most popular hymns written
by Charles Wesley, brother to Methodism's founder John Wesley, and is the
first hymn in the United Methodist Hymnal.

Halden said the Lincoln Cathedral was chosen for the all-music service
because the Wesleys were from Lincolnshire and had links with the cathedral.

Choirs from outside England who would like to participate in the service or
individuals who would like to attend are invited to contact Halden at
Alandale, Mumby Road, Huttoft, LINCS. LN13 9RF England. Consistent with the
goals of Koynonya, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2000,
Halden said an attempt is being made to have the those assembled for the
service represent as many nations as possible.
