    Union-PSCE Seeks Congregation Awards Nominations

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-Nominations are being accepted for the four 1999 
Congregation Awards sponsored by Union Theological Seminary-Presbyterian 
School of Christian Education (PSCE) in Richmond, Va. 
 
    The awards, which include a $1,000 prize, honor excellence in Christian 
education and other ministries by congregations.  They will be presented 
during the upcoming 211th General Assembly, June 19-26 in Fort Worth, 
Texas. 
 
    "Presenting the Congregation Awards is inspiring for us," said the Rev. 
Louis B. Weeks, president of Union-PSCE.  "We will learn from these 
innovative congregations as we prepare students for work in the church." 
 
    The four awards are the W. T. "Tolly" Thompson Award for Excellence in 
Christian education; the Sarah Hill Brown Award for early childhood 
education; the Elinor Curry Award for outreach and social concern; and the 
Katharine Hawes Award for effective youth ministry. 
 
    The deadline for applications is March 31.  More information and
