INDIANAPOLIS (DNS) -- A Redding, Calif., couple has been
called to head a Washington state mission center related to
the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

David and Belinda Bell will begin their new assignment at
Yakama (cq) Christian Mission Center in White Swan, Wash.,
June 14. David will become missionary pastor of Yakama
Church. Belinda will serve as staff associate. Joining them
in the new assignment will be daughters Rebecca, 13, and
Katherine, 9.

David is currently finishing a master of divinity degree
at Pacific School of Religion, Berkeley, Calif., and owns a
building design and construction company. Belinda is a
social worker, working with children and families from
school systems in the Redding area. The couple served as
1998 summer interns at Inman Christian Center in San
Antonio, Texas.

The family has been active members of Redding First
Christian Church where David has been an elder, deacon and
chair of the building construction committee. Belinda is
currently chairperson of the elders and serves on the
pastoral search committee. In addition, she has worked with
the music ministry and the personnel committee.

The Bells "will help bring new life to the mission," said
the Rev. Jane Lawrence, vice president, Center for
Education and Mission, Homeland Ministries. "The
opportunities are endless. And they bring significant
gifts, skills, energy and passion to their new positions."

David envisions education, particularly for children,
taking center stage at Yakama Mission. He anticipates
providing space for job training, academic enrichment and
other programs.

Yakama Christian Mission provides services for Native
American and Hispanic communities on the Yakama
Reservation. It is one of four North American mission
centers related to Homeland Ministries.
