    Corrections And Clarifications

    Due to a typographical error by the reporter, a story in the March 19 
issue of NEWS BRIEFS about the murder of the Rev. Tom Otte (#99101, p.14) 
incorrectly reported that his wife died in 1977.  She died in 1997.

    Due to a typographical error by the reporter, a story in the March 19 
issue of NEWS BRIEFS about the Board of Pensions (#99099, p. 8) incorrectly 
quoted Christopher Smith as saying that the stock market experienced 
inordinate gains or losses half the trading days of 1998.  Smith said that 
the inordinate gains or losses (plus or minus one percent) have occurred so 
far in 1999, not 1998.

    A story in the March 19 issue of NEWS BRIEFS about the ordination of 
two Native Alaskans by Yukon Presbytery (#99098, p. 10) incorrectly 
identified the Rev. Timothy Gologergen as an Inupiat.  Gologergen is a 
Yupik.

    A story in the Feb. 26 issue of NEWS BRIEFS about the Church Growth 
Strategy Team (#99068, p. 13) implied that the report of the strategy team 
is a finished product and therefore contains few specific strategic ideas 
for church growth. 
    While the basic report of the Church Growth Strategy Team is complete, 
the team, according to chair Jinny Miller of Mishawaka, Ind., sees the 
report as "a work in progress, with additional resources and ideas to be 
added to it on a continuing basis."  Several such appendices will be added 
to the "loose-leaf" report by the time it reaches the 211th General 
Assembly in Fort Worth, Texas, this June, she said, and as more church 
growth strategies, resources and ideas are developed, they too will be 
added to the report.
