"Advocating Justice and Equity: A Policy Resource Guide on
Welfare, Work and Economic Policy" --
-- a new resource from the NCC's Economic Justice and
Domestic Hunger Program Ministry. This substantial booklet
offers concise, readable answers - from a faith perspective
- to questions on current welfare policy and how it was
shaped, the real employment picture, and the growing gap
between rich and poor, both globally and domestically.
It distills an expert analysis from the work of
economists, social welfare analysts and Christian ethicists,
linking the welfare debate to the changing nature of work
and its rewards, describing how growing economic inequality
affects not only welfare recipients but all of America.
Available for $2.50. Order number EJ0002. Request
bulk discount by calling (212) 870-2385.

"Africa: In Bondage to Debt" --
-- a new six-page study/action guide in the "Facts Have
Faces" series. It explores the crushing impact of foreign
debts on Africa's poorest nations. Many spend more each
year on debt repayment than on primary education and health
care combined. The guide profiles faith communities and
other caring persons around the world who have joined in a
vigorous Jubilee 2000 campaign to forgive the debt. ED
9853.
All "Facts Have Faces" cost $.30 each; 4/$1. Please
prepay. For bulk prices, call 1-800-297-1516.

 Other "Facts Have Faces" -
" "Caution: Children at Work" explores the necessity
of work for some children under age 15, its often
harmful consequences, and response by people of
faith to this very complex issue. Contains many
action suggestions. ED 9754.
" "Africa: Endangered/Enduring" traces two of the many
issues underlying Africa's crisis: militarization
and debt. A profile of Africa's competence and
resilence. ED 9380.
" "Anti-Immigrant Backlash" illustrates the rise of
anti-immigrant bias in the U.S.A. Immigrant
contributions and creative church action lend an
alternative perspective. ED 9556. In Spanish ED
9556sp.
" "Children for Sale" explores efforts to combat the
rapid growth of child prostitution into a multi-
billion dollar industry. ED 9391.

at how U.S. churches and their worldwide partners
confront injustices that lead to poverty and
powerlessness. ED 9557.

misconceptions about hunger and celebrates
successful efforts to overcome human need. ED 9658
REV.
" "Landmines: Fallout of War" highlights their human
toll, especially on children. Learn how churches
are joining many other groups to support an
international boycott of landmines' production and
sale. ED 9659.
