United Methodists add 24 missionaries

STAMFORD, Conn. (UMNS) - Twenty-four new mission personnel from across the
world were commissioned April 20 by the United Methodist Board of Global
Ministries.

Of that group, 17 will serve in various countries. They include Devi and
Karuna Bhujel of the Methodist Church in India, who will provide
faith-community building and theological training in Biratnagar, Eastern
Nepal; the Rev. Evelyn Taylor Cain, North Indiana Annual (regional)
Conference, assigned to theological training in Recife, Brazil; and Normor
Nyasha Chikwaira of Zimbabwe, to serve as area financial executive in
Nairobi, Kenya, for the East Africa region.

Also, Wendy Chun, Korean Methodist Church, who will serve as a translator
and teacher at the Korean Christian Church in Osaka, Japan; Dan and Rachel
Gabler, Wisconsin Conference, assigned as a pilot/mechanic and a training
coordinator, respectively, with the North Katanga Conference, Democratic
Republic of Congo; Misabiko Baholelwa Golden, Southern Congo, assigned as
area financial executive in Luanda, Angola; and David and Yah Suah Kialain,
North Georgia Conference, to serve as vocational technical specialists in
Ghana, West Africa.

Also, Rev. Hong-Duk Kim, Tennessee Conference, assigned as area financial
executive in Seoul, Korea; Nicholas Gitobu Kithinji, Methodist Church in
Kenya, assigned as area financial executive in Conakry, Guinea; Helen Byolt
Lovelace of Norway, to serve as a social worker in Kiev, Ukraine; Joel
Neahoruri of East Africa, assigned as area financial executive in Kitwa,
Zambia; the Rev. Chiew Len Teo, Baltimore/Washington Conference, to serve as
a social worker in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Grace and Abel Vega, of the
Presbyterian Church, to serve in community ministry and as an
agriculturalist, respectively, in El Vergel, Chile.

Seven of the missionaries were assigned as Korean-American mission pastors
to congregations in the United States. They are the Rev. Gyu Oh Cho,
Northern Illinois Conference; the Rev. Jin Wook Jeong, Western Pennsylvania
Conference; the Rev. Daniel Dongil Jin, North Georgia Conference; the Rev.
Young Seon Kim, Northern Illinois; the Rev. Paul JungKu Lee, Kansas East
Conference; the Rev. Chae Hon Nam, California-Pacific Conference; and the
Rev. Daniel Chunhyung Yoo, Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.
