FELICETTI NAMED PRESIDENT FOR CAPITAL UNIVERSITY

     CHICAGO (ELCA) -- Dr. Daniel A. Felicetti, 57, Indianapolis, has
been named 13th president of Capital University, Columbus, Ohio.
Capital is one of 28 colleges and universities of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America.
     Since 1989 Felicetti has been president of Marian College,
Indianapolis, a Franciscan Roman Catholic liberal arts school.
Felicetti will be the first Roman Catholic to serve as Capital's
president.  He will assume his new responsibilities in August.
     From 1984 to 1989 Felicetti was vice president for academic
affairs at the University of Detroit, Michigan.  He also held vice
president posts at Southeastern University in Washington, D.C., 1982-84;
the College of New Rochelle, N.Y., 1980-81; and Wheeling College, W.Va.,
1977-80.  Felicetti taught political science at Fairfield University,
Conn., 1973-77.
     Felicetti earned a doctorate degree in political science from
University of New York in 1971, and was presented with the Founder's Day
Certificate for being in the "highest bracket of scholastic performance
recognized by the university."  He earned a master's degree in political
science from the University of New York in 1966, and a bachelor's degree
in political science from Hunter College, City University of New York,
in 1963.
     Felicetti has been a visiting associate for the American Council
on Education, and has served on the national board of directors for the
Council of Independent Colleges and Universities 1995-98, and the
National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in 1999.
He was a visiting faculty fellow at Yale University in 1975.
     From 1989 to 1999, Felicetti has been chair of the Indiana
Conference for Higher Education and a member of the advisory board for
St. Vincent Hospitals and Health Services, Indianapolis.  In April 1997
he was the Indianapolis delegate to the President's Summit on America's
Future.
     Dr. Ronald J. Volpe, who has served as Capital's interim president
for the last year, will return to his previous position as provost and
vice president for academic affairs.
