Exhibit Will Travel to Churches Around the Country

    by Jerry L. Van Marter

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-The Mission Interpretation and Promotion Office of the
Congregational Ministries Division is seeking children's art for a
nationally touring display to highlight the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
"Year of the Child" in 2000-2001.

Twelve special entries will be chosen for inclusion in the 2000-2001
Presbyterian Planning Calendar, which has a distribution of more than
100,000 copies annually. A family devotional guide based on the selected
art will accompany the calendar, providing resources, prayers and family
enrichment suggestions.

The children's art exhibition will be available for display at synods,
presbyteries, churches, conferences and church-based day care centers
during the "Year of the Child."

The children's art program is part of the response to the 1997 General
Assembly's declaration of the year 2000-2001 as the "Year of the Child."
The overall thrust of the special emphasis is to heighten the church's
awareness of the gifts and needs of children, to hear children's thoughts
and concerns more clearly and to help the church minister to the needs of
children more effectively.

      in one mailing tube)

    * entries must be postmarked by Sept. 15, 1999

    * entries become the property of the PC(USA)

The selected scripture readings on which art must be based are:
