The Rev. Bill Pruitt, 88, who spent 25 years as a Presbyterian
missionary in Africa, died Aug. 12 of a massive heart attack in Dallas.
Pruitt, who served as an associate pastor at Highland Park Presbyterian
Church in Dallas after his missionary service until he retired in 1985,
faced allegations in recent months that he molested at least 10 women as
girls in the 1960s and 1970s. Most say the abuse occurred in Africa, where
their parents were did mission work with Pruitt. At least two allege that
he molested them during his time in Dallas.
    Pruitt steadfastly denied the charges.
Services were held for Pruitt on Aug. 16 at the Highland Park church.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia.
