The Rev. Charles Brackbill of Mountainside, N.J., was honored for his
professional contributions to religious broadcasting Sept. 29 when he
received the second annual "Giants Among Us" award from the Tri-State Media
Ministry, an ecumenical communications agency in the greater New York area.
Brackbill was an innovative producer of religious messages for radio
and television who used his talents on behalf of the Synod of New Jersey,
the New Jersey Council of Churches and as associate executive director of
the Presbyterian Church's Division of Mass Media. In the latter position,

An expert on Southern Asia and especially Indonesia, Tankersley had
long pressed the case of the East Timorese people and was responsible for
taking many delegations of church leaders to East Timor to educate them
