RICHMOND, Va. - The 100,000th book in the Union Theological Seminary & 
Presbyterian School of Christian Education International Library Book 
Project will be shipped this month.  The project gives theological books to 
seminaries around the world - 93 seminaries in 46 countries to date.  The 
project began in 1978.  Trinity College in Ghana has received the largest 
number of books - 6,563. 
 
SAN ANSELMO, Calif. - The Right Rev. John Ballantyne Cairns, moderator of 
the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, will officiate during 
morning chapel at San Francisco Theological Seminary, Oct. 15.  Cairns has 
been pastor of the Riverside Parish Church in Dumbarton since 1985 and was 
appointed one of nine Chaplains in Ordinary to the Queen of Scotland, 
becoming a part of the Royal Household in 1997. 
 
DECATUR, Ga. - Three evening courses have been set for October and November 
for  the Lay Institute of Columbia Theological Seminary.  The dates are 
Oct. 18, 25 and Nov. 1, 8.  Courses are:  "Are Any Sick?: Biblical Voices 
on Health and Sickness, Healing and Death, the Rev. Joan Gray, instructor; 
"Angels and Demons," George Stroup, professor of theology, Rick Dietrick, 
pastor, and Linda Morningstar, educator; and "Bible Stories in 
Perspective," Christine Yoder, Old Testament scholar, Stan Saunders, New 
Testament scholar, C. Benton Kline, theologian, and Rebecca Parker, 
pastor/educator.  Courses begin at 7:30 p.m. and are taught on the seminary 
campus.  The cost is $40.  For more information or to register, call (404)

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Seven professors will be installed to their positions at 
Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary' Fall Convocation, Sept. 16. 
Dale P. Andrews - who will be installed as assistant professor of 
homiletics and pastoral theology - will deliver the address: "The Torment 
of Hope."  Other installations are Frances Adeney, William A. Benfield Jr. 
associate professor of evangelism and global missions; Christopher Elwood, 
assistant professor of historical theology; Kathryn Johnson, Paul Tudor 
Jones professor of church history; Stephen G. Ray Jr., assistant professor 
of theology and philosophy; Dianne Reistroffer, interim dean of the 
seminary; and J. Bradley Wigger, Second Presbyterian Church assistant 
professor of Christian Education and director of the Center for 
Congregations and Family Ministries.
