CLEVELAND (UMNS) -- United Methodist children are being invited to submit
artwork that will be projected on screens and displayed throughout the
Cleveland Convention Center during the church's General Conference May 2-12.

The commission planning the conference approved the idea Oct. 9 as a way of
emphasizing a churchwide initiative on children. The group also agreed that
an offering taken during an opening communion service will be directed to
the churchwide initiative "Hope for the Children of Africa."

Children are invited to submit original art on the conference theme, "We who
are many are one body." The art should be prepared on 8 ½-by-11 white paper
and mailed by March 1. The young artists are asked to put their first name,
age, city and state on the artwork and to enclose a small, school-type
photo, if possible. Send to Steve Zekoff, 1200 Davis St., Evanston, IL
60201.
