    Notes about People

    The Rev. Charles Parker Wright has been chosen as the new chaplain of 
the U.S. House of Representatives. 
    Wright is currently an honorably retired minister member of National 
Capital Presbytery.  He has served pastorates in Maryland, Pennsylvania, 
Georgia and Washington. 
    Wright's appointment means that both congressional chaplains are now 
Presbyterians.  The U.S. Senate chaplain is the Rev. Lloyd John Ogilvie.

    Ruth Warren, a longtime member of the National Committee on the 
Self-Development of People, died Oct. 1.  Services were held Oct. 8 at 
Belvue Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles.

    The Rev. David McDowell, executive presbyter for Utica Presbytery, died 
suddenly at his home Nov. 26 of a heart attack. 
    Prior to coming to Utica Presbytery, McDowell served on the staff of 
the Synod of the Trinity.  Earlier he served on the staff of the Board of 
Christian Education of the former United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A., 
where he was known for his coordinating work on behalf of the Association 
of Presbyterian Church Educators. 
    Services have been scheduled for Dec. 11 at the New Harford (N.Y.) 
Presbyterian Church.  McDowell is survived by his wife, Elizabeth.
