    PHEWA seeks nominees for annual awards 
 
    Four to be conferred during General Assembly next June

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-The Presbyterian Health, Education and Welfare Association 
(PHEWA) is seeking nominations for four General Assembly ministry awards to 
be presented during the 212th General Assembly (2000) next June in Long 
Beach, Calif. The deadline is Feb. 28. 
 
    The awards are: 
 
    * The Community Ministries and Neighborhood Organizations) Award, which 
recognizes a community ministry that has been faithful and creative; 
 
    * The Urban Network of Congregational Leadership Award, for an urban 
ministry that has strengthened its congregation by serving its neighborhood; 
 
    * The Dave Hancock Award, presented by the Presbyterian Network on 
Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse to a church or church professional who has 
been involved in drug- or alcohol-related issues in a professional or 
leadership capacity; and, 
 
    * The Margaret Fuad Award, also presented by the drug and alcohol 
network, to a layperson who as a volunteer or activist has been 
instrumental in getting the church and community involved in issues related 
to drug and alcohol abuse. 
 
    Nominations, which should include the name of the person or ministry 
nominated, the nominee's address and phone number, the name of a contact 
person and a two-page description of the ministry, may be submitted by mail 
to PHEWA, 100 Witherspoon Street, Room 3041, Louisville, KY 40202, or by 
fax to (502) 569-8034.
