More than 12,000 hits of video clips on signing of 'Joint Declaration'

GENEVA, 8 December 1999 (lwi) - Due to a very high demand, the Lutheran World
Federation (LWF) will continue to provide the video clip of the signing
ceremony of the "Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification", which
took place on 31 October 1999 in Augsburg, Germany for another four weeks.

Up to 31 December 1999, anyone interested can view the video recording of the
signing ceremony of the "Joint Declaration" using the "RealVideo-Player" which
can be accessed free of charge directly on the Internet.

The video recordings include the signing ceremony of the Official Common
Statement on 31 October 1999 in Augsburg's St. Anna Church and the two press
conferences that took place in Augsburg on 29 October and on the occasion of
the signing. Both video clips can be downloaded in English as well as in
German.

During the period 31 October to 30 November 1999, more than 12,000 hits of
these video clips were registered. On 31 October 1999, the nearly 60-minute
recording of the signing ceremony was accessed 4,194 times, on 1 November
users hit the clips 2,922 times, and on 2 November 913 times. The two press
conferences which altogether lasted more than two hours were contacted 659
times on 29 October and 629 times on 30 October. Between 3 and 16 November
1999, there were between 119 and 488 hits on the video clips, without a
significant continuing decline. Since 17 November, 29 to 86 hits on one of the
clips were registered.

The video clips can be accessed via a link on the Lutheran World Federation's
web site at www.lutheranworld.org or directly via www.rechtfertigung.de
(German version) and www.justification.org (English version).

(The LWF is a global communion of 128 member churches in 70 countries
representing 58 million of the world's 61.5 million Lutherans. Its highest
decision making body is the Assembly, held every six or seven years. Between

and its Executive Committee.)
