PHILADELPHIA-The Rev. Edward D. Gehres Jr. has begun work as exexutive 
presbyter of Philadelphia Presbytery, the oldest presbytery in the 
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).  Gehres began his new work Nov. 1. 
    Gehres came to Philadelphia from Detroit, where he served as executive 
presbyter for Detroit Presbytery for 12 years.  Prior to that, he served 
Maumee Valley Presbytery for nine years, first as an associate, then as 
executive presbyter.  He also served First Presbyterian Church of Decatur, 
Ill., for 10 years. 
    A graduate of Oakland University in Rochester, Mich., Gehres received 
his M.Div. in 1970 from McCormick Theological Seminary. 
 
GREENVILLE, S.C.-Foothills Presbytery has called the Rev. George Wilkes, 
46, as its new executive presbyter.  He began his new work Dec. 6. 
    Wilkes is currently pastor of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Walterboro, 
S.C., in Charleston-Atlantic Presbytery.
