Higher Education Conference Focuses on Jesus

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s annual "Critical Issues in Higher
Education" conference will spend a week examining "Our Work in Higher
Education: Where is Jesus In This?" The Conference will run from July 17
through July 23 at Ghost Ranch, New Mexico.

Participants in the conference will share their personal encounters
with Jesus and examine how these have influenced their work in higher
education.

The conference has been designed for faculty, administrators,
chaplains, campus ministers and students, as well as middle governing body
personnel involved in higher education ministries. Conference planners
hope that as participants come to understand how these personal encounters
with Jesus are formative to their work and vocation, there will be an
increase in the acknowledgment of the authenticity and value of one
another's service on behalf of the church.

The "Critical Issues" conference began in the summer of 1994 under the
leadership of the Rev. Harry Smith, retired president of Austin College,
and former campus ministers. The current conference director is the Rev.
Clyde O. Robinson, Jr., the long time national staff person responsible for
higher education ministries and students' ministries until his retirement
in 1997.
