    Thirty PC(USA) College Professors Sought 
    for Consultation on Teaching 
 
    August gathering will focus on teaching as vocation

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-Thirty college professors who are either members of the 
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) or who teach at PC(USA)-related colleges or 
universities are being sought to participate in a consultation on the 
vocation of the Presbyterian teacher. 
 
    The first meeting of the consultation - sponsored by the Association of 
Presbyterian Colleges and Universities (APCU), Centre College and the 
Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion - will be 
held Aug. 10-13, 2000, at the Presbyterian Center here and on the campus of 
Centre College in Danville, Ky. 
 
    Consultation planners expect the first gathering to lead to a book of 
essays by consultation participants which will lay the groundwork for a 
continuing Presbyterian Academy of Scholars and Teachers. 
 
    Co-directors of the consultation are the Rev. Duncan Ferguson, 
associate director for higher education for the PC(USA) and APCU president, 
and William "Beau" Weston, associate professor of sociology and religion at 
Centre College. 
 
    A grant from the Wabash Center will cover all costs except 
transportation to and from Kentucky.
