    Montreat Launches Preachers Conferences with Stellar Lineup 
 
    Inaugural event slated for May 29-June 2

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-A renowned group of Presbyterian preachers will assemble at 
the Montreat Conference Center May 29-June 1 for "Reclaiming the Text," a 
new Montreat program designed for preachers. 
 
    Among those scheduled to participate are Barbara Brown Taylor, 
professor of religion at Piedmont College (Ga.); Walter Brueggemann, 
professor of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, 
Ga.; James Forbes, pastor of Riverside Church in New York City; Douglas 
John Hall, professor emeritus of Christian theology at McGill University, 
Montreal; and Richard Lischer, professor of preaching, Duke Divinity 
School. 
 
    Also scheduled to speak are Eugene Peterson, professor emeritus of 
spiritual theology at Regent College, Vancouver, B.C.; Gail Godwin, 
best-selling author of "Evensong"; and Phyllis Trible, professor emerita of 
sacred literature at Union Theological Seminary in New York City. 
 
    John Weaver, chair of the organ department at the Juilliard School and 
director of music for Madision Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City, 
will serve as musician-in-residence.  The conference liturgy writer will be 
Ann Weems, author of numerous books, including her latest - "Putting the 
Amazing Back in Grace." 
 
    The conference will include morning and evening worship, keynote 
addresses, academic study units, conversation time with the speakers, book 
signings, a festival of hymns, and optional evening programs. 
 
    Conference faculty includes Ronald Edward Peters, Rodger Nishioka, 
Eunjoo Mary Kim, Anna Carter Florence, George M. Landes, Virgil Cruz, Ann 
Laird Jones, Victor Aloyo, Jr., Thomas W. Mann, James A. Wharton, Lamar 
Williamson, and Will Kennedy.
