LOUISVILLE, Ky.-More than 150 works of art by young Presbyterian artists
have been selected for inclusion in a number of exhibits that will
highlight the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) "Year of the Child" mission
emphasis beginning this summer.

The art works were selected from 1,800 entries submitted to the Mission
Interpretation and Promotion Office of the Congregational Ministries
Division here to help the denomination focus on the special gifts and needs
of children as expressed in visual arts as part of the "Year of the Child."

Thirteen works of art, selected by a denomination-wide panel, will be
featured in the upcoming 2000-2001 Presbyterian Planning Calendar.

Traveling exhibits will take two forms. One exhibition of forty-five
art works in a large framed exhibit of children's art will travel to
twenty-four different congregations around the country for a two-year tour
after being unveiled at the upcoming 212th General Assembly in Long Beach,
Calif. The exhibit is entitled "Whoever welcomes this child...welcomes
me." - An Exhibition of Children's Art.

Four smaller exhibits, each containing 25 matted works of art, will
travel to other congregations during the same time.
