Childers, Gomes to be Featured on
	Odyssey's "Great Preachers" Series

	Programs will air in mid-May

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Rev. Jana Lynn Childers, a Presbyterian who teaches
homiletics at San Francisco Theological Seminary, and the Rev. Peter Gomes
of the American Baptist church, who recently was named one of the best
contemporary preachers by "Time" magazine, will be featured in upcoming
episodes of "Great Preachers," a half-hour series on the Odyssey Network

Gomes will appear on the program on May 11 (the show will be rerun on May
14); Childers will be featured on May 18 (rerun May 21).

Each program in the series profiles a preacher in his or her community,
followed by a signature sermon and a conversation between program host Bill
Turpie and the preacher.

Gomes, a professor of Christian morals at Harvard College and a minister of
non-denominational Harvard Memorial Church in Cambridge, Mass., also is a
best-selling author. His most recent work, "The Good Book," stayed on
various best-seller lists for months.

Childers is renowned for incorporating elements of the theater into her
preaching. She has called theater "the closest cousin the church has."

"Great Preachers" is co-produced by Odyssey Productions and the National
Interfaith Cable Coalition (NICC), of which the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
is a founding partner. Odyssey is owned and operated by Hallmark
Entertainment, The Jim Henson Company, Liberty Media Corporation and NICC.

For information about where to find the Odyssey Network, contact your local
cable company or call Odyssey's Mark Kern, (818) 755-2626, or Joan Behan,
(212) 930-1947.
