GA Studio Will Help Congregations Reach the Plugged-In but Unchurched

	by Mary Pace

An on-site television studio will again be part of the PC(USA)'s General
Assembly this year as part of the denomination's continuing national media
campaign. The "Stop In & Find Out" campaign gives congregations and
presbyteries a chance to use professional print ads, television and radio
commercials and a host of other tools to reach out to the unchurched.

The campaign is an effort to appeal to people who aren't involved in a
church community but are seeking answers to questions of faith, such as "Why
are bad things happening to me?" and "Heaven? Gee, who knows?" In addition
to commercials and print ads, the campaign offers post cards, bumper
stickers, posters, artwork and pew cards.

Now in its fourth year, the campaign kit has been revised to make it more
user-friendly and more versatile. At the core of the revised kit is a
"how-to" booklet that takes a church through the use of each communication
tool, with step-by-step instructions. The revised kit, which contains all of
the tools except the TV ads, will be available for purchase at the General
Assembly. A videotape with sample television ads is included so that
potential buyers can get a sense of what the ads are all about before
shelling out the money.

During the General Assembly, any church can customize a television spot in
the convention center studio, or choose a ready-to-use commercial. Either
way, the church winds up with a finished product ready for broadcast on
local stations.

To reserve studio time at the GA, or to find out more about the "Stop In &
Find Out" campaign, call Becky Trinkle at 1-888-728-7228, extension 5210.

"Stop In & Find Out" is a joint project of the Office of Evangelism and
