	Vic Pentz Is Named Pastor of Peachtree Church in Atlanta

	He succeeds the late Frank Harrington at PC(USA)'s largest church

ATLANTA -- The Rev. Victor D. Pentz, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of
Houston, was unanimously elected May 7 as the next pastor of Peachtree
Presbyterian Church here, the largest congregation in the Presbyterian
Church (U.S.A.) with more than 12,000 members.

	Pentz, who has been at First Church-Houston for nine years, succeeds the
late Rev. Frank Harrington, who died in early 1999.

	Frank Skinner, chair of Peachtree's Pastor Nominating Committee, told the
congregation, "Dr. Pentz is an extraordinarily gifted man of God.  He has a
keen, creative mind, a warm, engaging personality and a wonderful sense of
humor.  And each one of us on the PNC is thrilled beyond words as we
envision the power of his ministry in this church."

	Pentz is a graduate of Pomona College and Princeton Theological Seminary. 
He earned is Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary.

	Membership at First Church-Houston has nearly doubled during Pentz' tenure.
 He has pioneered several mission programs for the poor and disadvantaged in
Houston and the church recently completed a $17 million capital campaign.

	Pentz begins his ministry at Peachtree on Aug. 1.
