LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The moderator of the seminary's Board of Trustees, Robert
L. Reed of Cincinnati, Ohio, will deliver the commencement address at the
147th commencement exercises at Louisville Presbyterian Theological
Seminary, May 21.  A neurologist, Reed will receive one of three Devoted
Service Awards.  The other recipients are the Rev. Laurence Timothy Doty,
moderator of the Synod of Mid-America, and the Rev. Arthur Lodge, moderator
of the Synod of Living Waters.  Prior to the commencement services, a
baccalaureate service will be held in the seminary's Caldwell Chapel; Scott
C. Williamson, the Robert H. Walkup Assistant Professor of Theological
Ethics, will deliver the sermon.

DECATUR, Ga. -- Charles B. Cousar has been named acting president of
Columbia Theological Seminary by its Board of Trustees, should a new
president not be elected by June 30, the date when President Douglas
Oldenburg will begin a six-month sabbatical to work on a history of the
seminary.  Oldenburg announced his retirement last year after serving 14
years as the seminary's president.  Cousar is the Samuel A. Cartledge
Professor of New Testament Language, Literature and Exegesis at Columbia and
a member of the faculty since 1960.

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Rev. John Evans has announced that he will resign as
vice president for development and church relations at Austin Presbyterian
Theological Seminary to accept a position as a regional development officer
for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Foundation.  Evans has served as a
chair of the Foundation's Development Committee and as a member of its Board
of Trustees.  He is a 1968 graduate of Austin Seminary and returned to the
institution in 1984.

RICHMOND, Va. -- The Rev. Kenneth J. McFayden has joined Union Theological
Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education as professor of
ministry and leadership development and director of The Center for Ministry
and Leadership Development.  The center administers educational programs for
church and lay leaders; it was formerly known as The Office of Professional
Development.  Prior to joining Union-PSCE, McFayden served as executive
director of the North Central Career Development Center of New Brighton,
Minn.; an ordained PC(USA) minister, McFayden has served a pastorate in Ohio
and served as a hospital chaplain in Kentucky.
