	Seven Presbyterian schools awarded Bible teaching grants

	Schools share $58,000 in prize money

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Higher Education Program Area of the National
Ministries Division has announced seven recipients of Grants for the
Teaching of the Bible.

	The grants are made each year to enhance the Bible teaching of Presbyterian
Church (U.S.A.) colleges, universities and secondary schools who are
developing innovative ways of teaching the Bible to students.

	Grant money will be used to support new curricula, to purchase Bible study
resources and to provide scholarships for students to travel to the Middle
East.

	Grant recipients, selected by a committee of faculty and staff of
Presbyterian-related colleges and universities are:

	  Alberston College, Caldwell, Idaho, $10,000 to equip Bible study leaders
and support vocational development among students.

	  Centre College, Danville, Ky., $10,000 to provide scholarships for
students to travel to the Middle East.

	  Jamestown (N.D.) College, $10,000 to develop a new Bible studies
curriculum.

	  Lyon College, Batesville, Ark., $5,000 to develop a new Bible studies
curriculum.

	  Menaul School, Albuquerque, N.M., $10,000 to develop a new secondary
school curriculum for the teaching of the Bible.

	  Pikeville (Ky.) College, $3,000 to purchase Biblical studies reference
materials.

	  Westminster College, Fulton, Mo., $10,000 to redesign its Introduction to
the Bible curriculum.
