New directors announced in Office of the General Assembly

Robina Winbush, Gradye Parsons join stated clerk's staff

	by Jerry L. Van Marter

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - General Assembly stated clerk Clifton Kirkpatrick has
announced two key senior staff appointments in the Office of the General
Assembly.

The Rev. Robina Winbush will join the office as the new Director of the
Department of Ecumenical and Agency Relations. She succeeds the Rev. Eugene
Turner, who is retiring at the end of the year.

Winbush, who officially joins the staff Jan. 15, 2000, will work with
Turner on the transition beginning in September. She is currently pastor of
the Hollis Presbyterian Church in New York and previously served in the
Worldwide Ministries Division as associate for ecumenical programming and
education.

The Rev. Gradye Parsons will be the new Director of Strategic Operations
for the office of the General Assembly, beginning Sept. 1.

The position is a new one, combining elements of several previous OGA
positions. The position of director of assembly arrangements, which has
been filled on an interim basis by the Rev. Richard Ferguson, has been
eliminated.

Parsons is currently the Executive Presbyter and Stated Clerk of the
Presbytery of Holston. Prior to that he served as a pastor for over a
decade. For many years Parsons has served as a volunteer staff person at
the General Assembly as parliamentarian, tracker, and in a variety of other
capacities. He is also vice chair of the Board of Pensions.
