WORLD RELIEF COMMITTEE IS INTRODUCED TO ONE GREAT HOUR OF
SHARING WEBSITE, APPROVES FUNDS FOR PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS
 GREEN LAKE,WIS.--In semiannual meetings here
June 22 the American Baptist Churches' World Relief
Committee was introduced to the new One Great Hour of
Sharing Website---www.abc-oghs.org---and voted to fund
a variety of programs and projects within the U.S. as
well as provide assistance to support a program of
Church World Service.
 The committee establishes policy for distribution of
funds from the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering.
 World Relief Officer Charles Sydnor introduced the
OGHS Website, which currently is geared toward supplementing
the promotion of the offering and complements the OGHS 2000
leaders' guide. The Website is being developed as a major
resource for news pertaining to OGHS-sponsored ministries
and about ABC/USA responses to crisis situations.
 During the meeting the committee also funded a number
of projects:
 $15,000 for the People and Congregations Together for
Stockton (PACT) of New Bethel Baptist Church in Stockton,
Calif., which provides a variety of ministries promoting
community organization among Stockton's diverse ethnic
communities;
 $20,000 for Hands for America, a job development and
training ministry for former welfare recipient mothers in
New York City that is endorsed by the American Baptist
Churches of Metropolitan New York;
 $12,000 for Justice-Action-Mercy (J.A.M.), an
interfaith community organizing program, involving First
Baptist Church of Springfield, Ohio, and endorsed by the
American Baptist Churches of Ohio, that addresses issues
arising from urban poverty;
 $15,000 for Clara's House, a ministry for expectant
mothers choosing to bring their children to term, supported
by First Baptist Church of Blakely, Pa., and endorsed by the
American Baptist Churches of Pennsylvania and Delaware;
 $30,000 over three years to expand the feeding program
of Millcreek Baptist Church in Philadelphia from one day a
week to several days; and
 $5,000 to assist in funding the annual expenses of
regional disaster response facilitators of Church World
Service, the relief and development arm of the National
Council of Churches of Christ.
