"Is God in Cyberspace?" to be answered on the Internet

Webcast to explore relation between religion and the web

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Faith & Values Media, a service of the National
Interfaith Cable Coalition, Inc. (NICC), will gather a panel of experts on
religion and the Internet for the first live video streaming event on its
website on Monday, Sept.11, at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
	The program, "Is God in Cyberspace?" will last approximately two hours and
will be streamed live at www.FaithAndValuesMedia.org. The event is being
held at Marble Collegiate Church, New York City, and is produced by Trinity
Television.  More information about the webcast is available on the
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) website at www.pcusa.org.
	Panelists include David Weinberger, one of the self-described "ringleaders"
behind "The
Cluetrain Manifesto," an online declaration arguing that most institutions
have no idea how the Internet is changing virtually everything; Bruce
Lawrence, chair of the Religion Department at Duke University and author of
"The Complete Idiot's Guide To Online Religions"; Steve Waldman, founder,
chairman and chief content officer of beliefnet.com -- an Internet portal
through which individuals can learn about a wide array of religious
perspectives and beliefs; and
Phyllis Tickle, religion editor of "Publisher's Weekly."
	Hosted by Jim Hartz, "Is God in Cyberspace?" will also air on the Odyssey
Network as a "Real Bottom Line" special on Nov.12, at 2 p.m., Eastern and
Pacific Time.
	NICC is an organization of more than 70 Jewish and Christian faith groups
that includes as a charter member the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). It's
mission is to make faith more visible through the media. Presbyterians
serving on the boards of NICC are stated clerk the Rev. Clifton Kirkpatrick
and the Office of Communication's coordinator for Internet and media
services, Ann Gillies.
