Theme for this year is 'Birthing Health and Wholeness'

by Jerry L. Van Marter

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Nominations are being sought for the 2001 Women of Faith
Awards.

The awards are presented each year by Women's Ministries of the
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) during the Women of Faith Awards Breakfast at
General Assembly.

The 2001 theme, taken from I Cor. 12: 7-11, is "Birthing Health and
Wholeness. According to a release from Women's Ministries, a program area
of the National Ministries Division, the awards "will recognize those women
who live a vision of God's new day, overcoming brokenness and fragmentation
-- peacemakers, parish nurses, those in the health professions, pastoral
counselors, therapists, midwives, etc."

A nominee must be a living Presbyterian woman, lay or clergy, whose life
exemplifies faith in God and commitment to the mission of the PC(USA) and
who is a leader in the denomination or a related ecumenical or global arena.
General Assembly staff members are ineligible.

Official nomination forms are available by calling 1-800-728-7228, ext.
5362; by writing Women's Ministries, 100 Witherspoon Street, Louisville, KY
40202; or by visiting the PC(USA) web site at www.pcusa.org

Deadline for nominations is Feb. 1, 2001.
