INDIANAPOLIS (DNS) -- The Division of Overseas Ministries of the Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ) has established a scholarship fund to assist
overseas church leaders with continuing education. The Dr. Mae Yoho Ward
Enabling Scholarship Fund was founded in December 2000 at the request of
Ward's son, Don Ward, and her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Eis, of Petoskey,
Mich.

The fund honors Mae Yoho Ward's 60 years of service to the church. She
served as Director of Religious Education in West Virginia and Ohio and as
a missionary to Argentina. Later she held the position of executive
secretary of the Department of Latin America and the Caribbean. She also
was executive chair of the Division of World Missions and vice president
and acting president of the United Christian Missionary Society.

The Dr. Mae Yoho Ward Enabling Scholarship Fund was established to provide
overseas church leaders financial aid for continuing education in such
areas as pastoral, educational, administrative or service ministries.
"Continuing education" for this purpose is defined broadly as formal or
informal education, experience or travel that is needed by the recipient to
better function within a structure requiring a greater degree of
credentialing and in-service training and experience.

One hundred percent of the fund's earnings will be directed to the purpose
stated above, with special, but not exclusive consideration for scholarship
candidates in Latin America and the Caribbean. Mae Yoho Ward's story and
writings about her life and work will be shared with scholarship
recipients.

Contributions or requests for further information should be directed to:
