OGA library is dedicated to memory of Fred Jenkins

by Evan Silverstein

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- About two-dozen friends, family members and colleagues of
the Rev. C. Fred Jenkins gathered on Feb. 21, to dedicate a library in his
name at the Presbyterian Center in Louisville, KY.

Jenkins was director of constitutional services for the Office of the
General Assembly until his death on Dec. 3, at the age of 69. Jenkins was
both an ordained minister and a licensed attorney who was uniquely gifted
for his work in OGA. "Fred delighted in the light of the law," said
Kirkpatrick.

Kirkpatrick said during the brief ceremony that the C. Fred Jenkins Library
was "built for the glory of God and for study and reflection" and for
"research, scholarship and faithful commitment to the task of pursuing
truth, justice, compassion and evidence of the grace and love of Jesus
Christ."

Kirkpatrick said that Jenkins has left "a deep spot missing in our hearts"
following his death of complications from a massive heart attack suffered on
Nov. 30.
