Laverne Katherine Scholten Proudfoot, 54, the wife of longtime General
Assembly Newsroom volunteer and Presbyterian pastor the Rev. Charles W.
Proudfoot, died Feb. 6 in Pueblo, Colo., after a long bout with a rare
neuromuscular disease.

Services were held Feb. 8 at Alamosa Presbyterian Church, where Chuck
Proudfoot is pastor. Another service is planned for Feb. 24th at the Burton
Hights Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids Mich., where she had many
family and friends.

Laverne was an accomplished musician and tireless church worker who strived
to continue serving despite her debilitating illness. She met Chuck while
serving as minister of education at Westminster Presbyterian Church in
Springfield, Ill., when he was pastor. They were married for almost 22
years.

In addition to Chuck, she is survived by her son, Scot, one brother and two
sisters.
