BORDEN NAMED EXECUTIVE MINISTER FOR ABC 
OF THE WEST
 Dr. Paul D. Borden, who has been serving as 
acting executive minister for the American Baptist 
Churches of the West, has been named executive minister 
of that region.
 The region's Board of Directors voted March 22 to 
affirm Borden in the position.
 Borden was a church growth consultant for the 
region from 1997-2000 prior to his service as acting 
executive minister.
 Previously he was executive director of the 
Teaching Church Network in Minneapolis and director of 
church consulting with the Evangelical Free Church of 
America in Denver.
 He also served from 1986-1993 in a number of 
academic and administrative positions at Denver 
Seminary, including director of the Doctor of Ministry 
program, associate professor of homiletics, executive vice 
president, academic dean and chief executive officer 
during a presidential search.  
 He was academic dean and professor of Bible and 
theology at Western Bible College in Lakewood, Colo., 
from 1973-1983.
 Borden has served pastorates in Denver and 
Trenton, N.J.
 He holds a B.S. degree from Philadelphia College 
of Bible, the Th.M. degree from Dallas Theological 
Seminary and the Ph.D. degree in higher education 
administration from the University of Denver.
 The American Baptist Churches of the West, one 
of 34 regions within American Baptist Churches USA, 
includes approximately 225 churches and 47,000 resident 
members.
