ELCA SEMINARIES PLAN 2001 COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES

     CHICAGO (ELCA) -- The eight seminaries and one seminary program
of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) plan to conduct
commencement exercises at the end of the 2000-2001 academic year.
The dates, speakers and locations are listed:

May 11
Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, Columbia, S.C.
Chaplain R. Adm. (Ret.) A. Byron Holderby, Jr., former Chief of U.S.
Navy Chaplains
Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Columbia

May 13
Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa
The Rev. Jonathan P. Strandjord, director for theological education,
ELCA Division for Ministry, Chicago
St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Dubuque

May 15
Lutheran Seminary Program in the Southwest (LSPS), Austin, Texas
The Rev. Raymond W. Pickett Jr., LSPS assistant professor of New
Testament
Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Austin
          LSPS is an extension of Wartburg Theological Seminary and the
          Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, and is located on the
          campus of the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest
          (ETSS).  Commencement activities are conducted jointly with
          ETSS.
