Scouts give Presbyterian elder God and Service Award

by Bill Lancaster

LOUISVILLE, June 12-The National Association of Presbyterian Scouters (NAPS)
held their "Youth Ministry Through Scouting" luncheon Tuesday with scout
officials and former scouts in attendance.

The new president of NAPS, Eliot Kerlin, presented the God and Service
Award to Rush Hart, an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth,
Texas, who was a district commissioner in the Boy Scouts of America and is
current treasurer of NAPS. The award was given in appreciation for
outstanding leadership to "a person who has given much to the Presbyterian
Church (U.S.A.) and scouting," Kerlin said.

Appreciation awards were also given to Jim Snyder and David Richardson.
Chris Bingaman, director of field service for the Lincoln Heritage Council
of the Boy Scouts of America, spoke on the Venturing program, a young adult,
co-ed program of the scouts. He said the PC(USA) is "one of the largest
supporters of scouting in the U.S.A."
