ALMA, MI - The Alma College Board of Trustees has unanimously selected
Saundra J. Tracy as president of the college. Tracy, now vice president for
academic affairs and dean of Mount Union College in Alliance, OH, will take
her new post as Alma's 12th president on Aug. 1. She replaces Harold
Kolenbrander, interim president since January. Former President Alan J.
Stone retired on Dec. 31.

SAN ANTONIO, TX - Computer-science students at Trinity University are
developing a virtual-reality program to help dentists and oral surgeons
learn to give injections of anesthesia without causing pain or damaging a
patient's jaw. Dentistry students at the University of Texas Health Science
Center in San Antonio are among those using the system to learn to
distinguish between soft tissue and bony parts of the gums. In the Trinity
system, an operator uses a wired glove called a "Cyber Grasp" to pick up a
syringe and inject anesthesia into a patient's jaw.

MONTREAT, NC - Montreat College President Bill Hurt recently announced that
the Rev. William ("Bill") V. Cain will become the college chaplain on July
1. Cain grew up in West Virginia and is a graduate of West Virginia
University. He has a Master of Divinity degree from Reformed Theological
Seminary and a doctorate in ministry from Fuller Seminary; he was ordained
in 1976. He has been senior pastor of Lebanon Presbyterian Church in
Lebanon, OH, since 1989.
