Program and Finance passes two resolutions

SAINT LOUIS -- Delegates to The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod s 61st
Regular Convention passed two resolutions dealing with program and finance
matters during the first day of convention proceedings on Sunday, July 15.

The church body s triennial convention is being held in the America's
Center in downtown St. Louis.

Resolution 4-01 concerned giving thanks to God for the blessings that the
Missouri Synod has been given through the service of Concordia Historical
Institute (CHI), which is located on the campus of Concordia Seminary, St.
Louis.

Because CHI will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2002, and because it has
an increased need for space to house its growing collection of important
articles of historical value, CHI asked the convention to approve a special
thankoffering to support the work of CHI. The measure passed.

Also, after much discussion, delegates passed Resoultion 4-01, which dealt
with the already-accomplished transfer of Capital Funding Services from the
Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Foundation to the Lutheran Church Extension
Fund.
