Delegates welcomed to St. Louis with "open arms"

ST. LOUIS -- Francis G. Slay, mayor of St. Louis, sent a representative to
America s Center here on Monday, July 16, to tell delegates of the 61st
Regular Convention of The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod that they were
welcome to "the great city of St. Louis with gratitude and open arms."

Melba Moore said she was honored to be able to bring greeting to the
convention. "As you go forward in the next few days & may the teachings of
our Lord lead your hearts to deliver the messages that are so desperately
needed," she said.

Although she acknowledged the fact that delegates will be busy for the next
few days, she extended a personal invitation to them to see St. Louis..

"Our world-famous planetarium has just re-opened to the public, right
across from there is the beautiful Forest Park, which is a must see" and
contains a "magnificent zoo," she said. She added, "There s our science
center, our world renowned botanical gardens & and a number of fabulous
restaurants."
