LCMS convention delegates elect second through fifth vice presidents

ST. LOUIS Delegates to the 61st Regular Convention of The Lutheran Church 
Missouri Synod on Monday, July 16, elected the Synod s second through fifth 
vice presidents.

They are:
the Rev. Dr. Wallace R. Schulz, 57, of Pacific, Mo., second vice president. 
Schulz won on the second ballot, with 611 votes. He is currently serving 
his second term as fifth vice president of the Synod. He is associate 
speaker of "The Lutheran Hour," a radio program of Lutheran Hour 
Ministries, St. Louis.

the Rev. Dr. Robert H. King, 79, of Jefferson City, Mo., third vice 
president. King won on the third ballot, with 606 votes. He has served as a 
Synod officer since 1986, and is currently first vice president.

the Rev. Dr. Paul L. Maier, 71, of Kalamazoo, Mich., fourth vice president. 
Maier also won on the third ballot, with 575 votes. He is professor of 
ancient history at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo. Maier, a noted 
religious scholar, is the author of more than a dozen books.

the Rev. Dr. William C. Weinrich, 56, of Fort Wayne, Ind., fifth vice 
president. Weinrich won on the fourth ballot, with 604 votes. He is 
academic dean at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, where he has 
served as professor of historical theology since 1975.

All LCMS officers, including President-elect Gerald Kieschnick and First 
Vice President-elect Daniel Preus, will be installed in St. Louis in September.
