SUPPORT FOR VICTIMS OF TERRORIST ATTACKS
TO BE SENT THROUGH NORMAL CHANNELS
American Baptists wishing to support relief efforts
in the aftermath of the deadly terrorist attacks yesterday
should do so through normal channels--One Great Hour of
Sharing (line 7 of the Monthly Report of Mission Support),
designating contributions "Terrorist Attacks Relief Efforts."
Suicide plane crashes that damaged the Pentagon,
destroyed the World Trade Center and brought down a
passenger jet in western Pennsylvania have claimed the
lives of more than 260 passengers and likely thousands on
the ground at the Pentagon and in Manhattan.
At this time the specific manifestations of relief
initiatives are being assessed and developed by state and
federal officials and emergency response organizations.
American Baptists will be kept apprised as soon as needs
are clarified and opportunities for assistance are
presented.
