Program at McCormick Theological Seminary and well-known community leader,
was found dead Aug. 18 in her home in Hyde Park. The medical examiner
reported that the cause of death was heart failure, apparently the result of

University and Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Ga. She also served
in the Peace Corps from 1976-80 in the Philippines.

Edwards served as a pastor in Detroit, on the staff of Pittsburgh
Presbytery and taught at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary before going to
McCormick in 1996.

Funeral services were held Aug. 23 at Emmanual African Methodist Episcopal
Church in Moncks Corner, S.C. A memorial service will be held at McCormick
in September when school reconvenes.

Sandra Edwards is survived by her mother, Mrs. Lucille Edwards, of Moncks
Corner, her brother, Charles Edwards III, of Miami, Fla., an uncle, Richard
Roper, of Moncks Corner and other relatives.
