Osgood File spotlights Mennonite Media radio spots on forgiveness

HARRISONBURG, Va. (MBM) The Osgood File, a daily news
commentary broadcast hosted by Charles Osgood on the CBS Radio
Network, will profile a series of radio spots on forgiveness
produced by Mennonite Media.

A reporter from The Osgood File set up a recent phone interview
with producer Melodie Davis and Mennonite theologian Ron Kraybill
to discuss the Mennonite understanding of forgiveness. Kraybill
is an associate professor of conflict studies with Eastern
Mennonite Universitys Conflict Transformation Program.

Fawnee Evnochides, producer for religion and American society
with the ACFnewsource, produced and researched the story after
reading an ad about the radio spots in the March-April 2001 issue
of Sojourners magazine. ACFnewsource is a nonprofit organization
specializing in research, development and production of news
stories on substantive issues for commercial radio and
television.

Forgiveness: Its Your Choice, the newest series of public
service radio spots, features people in their own voices telling
stories of loss, pain and forgiveness in situations of violence
and crime, abuse, wrongful injury, marriage, and conflicts
between parents and children. Mennonite churches produced the
spots to model compassion instead of revenge and to demonstrate
forgiveness and reconciliation as a viable option. Released
earlier this
year, the series currently airs on at least 250 stations across
the United States and includes spots in Spanish and English.
