CLINTON, SC - Presbyterian College is mourning the loss of a veteran
administrator and alumnus: Gary Edward (Ed) Campbell, 75, died at his home
on Nov. 27. Campbell spent 54 years at PC, first as a student and later as
an administrator. He served as admissions officer, business manager,
treasurer and fund-raiser.

MONTREAT, NC - Students entering Montreat College next fall will get their
campus housing at a bargain rate, thanks to a new Residential Rebate Program
which covers the cost of room and board for full-time students who live on
campus. That's a savings of at least $16,920 over four years, according to
Anita Darby, director of admissions.

SPOKANE, WA - Whitworth College has been awarded $2 million from the Lilly
Endowment Inc. to develop programs to help students benefit from religious
wisdom in choosing vocations, including careers in the ministry. Whitworth
is one of 28 U.S. colleges and universities that will share Lilly grants
totaling $55.3 million. The Lilly Endowment, founded in Indianapolis, IN, in
1937, is a family foundation that supports religion, community development
and education.

BATESVILLE, AR - Helen Robbins, an associate professor of English at Lyon
College, has been named Professor of the Year in Arkansas, becoming the
ninth Lyon faculty member so honored in the past 13 years. The Carnegie
Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement
and Support of Education (CASE) announced Robbins' selection last month.
School administrators say only one institution in the nation -West Virginia
University - has accounted for more of these awards. Robbins was chosen from
384 nominees.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Eckerd College and the College Harbor Retirement
Community have signed a Lifelong Learning Affiliation agreement to offer and
market "mutually beneficial" activities, the school announced last month.
Eckerd College will offer continuing-education and travel-study programs to
College Harbor residents, and the retirement community will employ Eckerd
students as volunteers, interns and employees.
