To penetrate the remote mountain communities of
Southern Taiwans Pingtung County where over 3000 poor
families and their children are in need of social
services, World Vision/Taiwan (WV/T) established a
regional service center. An official dedication
ceremony was held on November 24th at Ruey Kwang
elementary school in Pingtung City. Representatives of
government and NGO sectors attended, accompanied by
families currently or previously served by WV/T.
WV/T chairman Tim Shao spoke on the topic, "Renew
Strength and Put Down Roots". He introduced the staff
of the office and pledged to continue service in the
spirit of the love of God to the children of poor families
in the targeted region. Office chief Patagav thanked
all who came, and emphasized that the Pingtung Center is
designed to penetrate to the remotest areas to give
appropriate aid for children. He specifically mentioned
social protection, church cooperation, community
strengthening and family services.
