ENID, Okla.(DNS) -- The Board of Directors of Phillips
University Legacy Foundation (PULF) has announced the award
of its first three Faculty/Professional Development
scholarships. The three scholarships total $4,000 for the
period of Jan.1-June 30, 2002.

Those receiving the scholarships are: Stephanie Goh, a
nursing faculty member at Midway (Ky.) College, for work on
a master of science degree in nursing with a mental health
emphasis at the University of Kentucky; Dr. Kathy J.
Whitson, associate professor of English, Eureka (Ill.)
College, for a sabbatical leave project to establish an
expanded service fellowship program at Eureka College; and
Toni Wine Imbler, a former Phillips University employee,
for theological studies at Phillips Theological Seminary,
Tulsa, Okla. The three were selected from a field of 25
applications from 10 Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ)-related colleges and universities.

PULF has two development scholarship grant programs
available to faculty at Disciples-related colleges and
universities and to former faculty and staff of Phillips
University from 1992-98. The grants are designed to help
provide faculty with continuing education opportunities to
enhance teaching skills, scholarly production or artistic
development and to provide leadership to the academic,
church, local and world communities. The programs help
perpetuate the mission and legacy of Phillips University,
Disciples-related school in Enid, Okla., which closed
academically in 1998.

The scholarship review committee next considers
applications for the period July 1- Dec. 31, 2002.
Applications should be submitted to the Division of Higher
Education (DHE) of the Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ), which administers the program for PULF. The
application deadline for July-Dec. 2002 is May 1, 2002.
DHE's web site address is: http://www.dhedisciples.org;
phone, 314-991-3000; fax, 314-991-2957.

PULF also has an undergraduate scholarship program
designed to serve 1) potential leaders for the church who
attend Disciples-related colleges and universities, and 2)
former staff of Phillips University pursuing a
baccalaureate degree, who were employed at least one year
full time during 1992-98. Scholarships of up to $4,000 will
be granted for the 2002-2003 academic year. The deadline to
submit applications is Feb. 11, 2002. This program is also
administered by DHE.
