to use it." On January 4th the independent Taitung Christian
Hospital approved a plan to open a comprehensive clinic
in one of the township's villages. Service in dentistry,
ophthalmology, urology, pediatrics, orthopedics and obstetrics
will be offered. These remote neighbors will find quality
that compares to that offered to urban residents. The

Spiritual Formation Text Published
The Education Committee at the PCT General Assembly
announces the publication of its first handbook on Spiritual
Formation, a translation of a text on patterns and practice
of Spiritual disciplines by Professor Joseph D. Driskill of
Pacific School of Religion. The book is aimed at Christians
who desire to deepen their own spirituality or to lead Spiritual
formation groups in churches. It's contents review the history
of spiritual formation in Protestant churches and offers many
techniques that can be used by leaders of spiritual formation
groups.
Education Secretary Chelsea Chiou says, "We published this
book because of a continuing education activity that was held
last year. Participants expressed a desire to have materials
that they found at the Pacific School available in Taiwan. In
the future we will concentrate on bringing out similar materials
with a Taiwan flavor. We are already editing a book by
Chuang Shiau-seng from Chu-tang Presbyterian Church so
that we have resources grounded in our local situation."
